LACKEY, Stephen Gordon

November 11, 1950 – February 19, 2023

It is with great sadness that the Lackey family announces the passing of Steve at the Winchester hospital on the morning of February 19th. Steve, 72, had four priorities in his life, his wife, his family, his friends and working hard in various positions throughout his life. He was a mentor to many, always ready to cheer you up with great advice, a smile or a laugh.

He was with the love of his life, Debra (nee Weir), for 52 years. Together, they delighted in spending time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; Monica (Joe), Tammy (Bob), David Castle (Karen), Sherry (Tony) and Tania (Chris), his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.

Steve was born in Ottawa to the late Zelma and Gordon Lackey. He was the eldest of 6 children; late Darlene Berney, Michael, Derek (Adrienne Sharp), Lana (late Sterling Bean), and Leeanna. He will be lovingly remembered by his aunts, uncles, cousins and especially by his nieces and nephews.

Steve loved sports, he was a red, black and white fan until it came to the Blue Jays, which he shared a love for with his daughter Sherry. He worked in many businesses that he and his wife had until he had to give them up because of his health. Steve spent his free time being with his family, watching sports and movies. He was always there to help relatives and friends with encouragement for whatever projects, or careers they were taking on. His advice was always appreciated.

Steve’s family would like to thank the ICU staff at the General Hospital for their thoughtful care.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Heart Institute or the Shepherds of Good Hope would be appreciated.

Service to be held at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 1619 Stittsville Main St., Stittsville, ON on March 4th at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow in the church hall.
