Show # 9

All Saints High School Mean Girls

Director: Shawna Pasini

How far will you go to garner attention and popularity? Can you stay true to your personality, or will you fall and become plastic?

This journey is explored in All Saints High School's production of Mean Girls.

Mean Girls follows the story of Cady Heron after she moves to North Shore High. It's here that she stumbles into the life of Regina George, the school's apex predator. Tensions rise as Cady sees if she can stay true to herself and her friends.

This production's combination of vibrant performances, captivating vocals, quick set changes, and immersive ensemble all came together to create a passionate rendition of the classic story.

Isobel Pozzobon gave a dynamic rendition of Cady Heron. Pozzobon's committed performance and stunning vocals radiated energy on stage.

The iconic Plastics all gave memorable performances that were unique and lively.

Nevaedha Fabian was commanding as Regina George. Her snappy and stern movements brought an assertive presence to the stage.

Michelle Jones as Karen Smith wonderfully embodied the comedic character. Jones' dynamic expressions and bubbly body language nailed Karen's humorous quality.

Michelle Lavoie, playing the role of Gretchen Wieners, fulfilled the anxious character through subtle gestures and line deliveries, highlighted in the song, What's Wrong With Me?

Personifying Damian was Henry Gallant, whose infectious energy and movements flooded the stage with an animated presence. Gallant's performance was best displayed in Stop!, when Damian fills the room with an exaggerated atmosphere.

Oliver Chabot was phenomenal in his portrayal of Kevin G. His extravagant movements and booming voice consistently created a bombastic charisma.

The ensemble cast provided an immersive atmosphere to the North Shore environment. The performers were always entertaining and in character, even without any lines.

Chabot and the cast shone while performing the song Whose House Is This?, thanks to their bouncy movements and spirited line deliveries.

Whether it was the costumes, lighting, or set changes, every technical aspect elevated the performances on stage and perfected the North Shore atmosphere.

The costumes team (Hailey Kingsland, Katherine Justin, Louise Kemd-jiokeng, Pratheeksha Anandhakumar) gave each character a unique identity.

Ethan Mcdonald and Katherine Justin's stage management delivered quick set changes and various settings, notably the transition from Africa to North Shore in the song It Roars. Occasional volume inconsistencies were noticeable, though this problem was alleviated as the show went on.

All Saints High School's production of Mean Girls was an engaging journey elevated by its energetic performances and fitting atmosphere.
