Pop­u­lace de­buted in 2017 on the grounds of the Cana­dian Mu­seum of Na­ture, a sculp­tural art in­stal­la­tion by Hilde Lam­brechts fea­tur­ing 9,000-plus ce­ramic roses, feath­ers, fleurs-de-lis, and birds, el­e­vated on steel rods. In hon­our of Canada 150, the feath­ers rep­re­sented Indige­nous peo­ples, roses the Bri­tish, fleurs-de-lis the French, and birds the im­mi­grants to Canada. The sculp­tures reap­peared last sum­mer out­side the Royal Cana­dian Geo­graph­i­cal So­ci­ety HQ on Sus­sex Drive, re­con­fig­ured as a gi­ant com­pass.
