Transitway reopens after crash

Ottawa Sun - - NEWS -

OC Transpo reopened the section off Transitway between Dominion and Tunney’s Pasture stations Sunday evening and closed the temporary bus stops on Scott Street.

The section had been closed since a double-decker Route 269 bus crashed into a transit station just before 4 p.m. on Friday.

The wrecked bus was towed away on Saturday and on Sunday, workers made repairs to the station.

OC Transpo said commuters would be able to access bus service on the Transitway platforms at Lincoln Fields, Dominion and Westboro stations.

Westbound buses would use stop 1A at the Westboro station.

Customer service staff would be on hand to assist riders.

Members of the public wanting to leave a memento or memorial item for the crash victims were asked to do so at one of two temporary sites: the westbound platform at the lower end and at the north west corner of Scott and Athlone streets.

People wanting to hold a vigil were asked to gather on the sidewalk on Scott Street in front of the station.

Mayor Jim Watson said a book of condolences would be available at Ottawa City Hall from noon Monday until the end of Sunday, Jan. 20.
