A Riveting Read
When I received the June-july 2017 issue of Our Canada I began reading and couldn’t put it down—i read it from cover to cover all in one day. The Our Roots section featuring all the Coming to Canada stories was interesting, awe-inspiring and heartwarming. I am an immigrant myself. Our family came from England by ship, arriving in Montreal and eventually settling in Foremost, Alta. Although our story is not as colourful as some, it was quite a culture shock—and the heat!
It was 101°F in August 1967— quite unlike English weather! But we were also struck by the friendliness and acceptance of people we didn’t know, when we received many invitations to supper in our new hometown. I just had to write and thank you for putting out such a great magazine.
