A HAIRY MOMENT

-

My ten-year-old nephew had always had long hair. One day, he told his mom he wanted to get it cut.

Soon afterwards, he told his mom that he didn’t like his hair short and was going to grow it out again.

Anyone who has grown their hair long knows that it goes through an awkward phase where it is too short to do anything with and yet is just long enough to become unruly and look like a mess. I tried my best to console him when he hit that stage. With all of my wisdom, I told him, “Don’t worry, your hair is just going through an ugly stage.” This must have hurt his feelings, for he looked at me and said, “your face is going through an ugly stage.” Dennis F.
