Pan-Am CX Cham­pi­onships Com­ing to Canada

The Pan-Amer­i­can Cy­clocross (CX) Cham­pi­onships are com­ing to Canada for 2018 and 2019, and will be held in Mid­land,

Ont., two hours north of Toronto. CykelHaus Race Pro­mo­tions will stage the event in con­junc­tion with Cy­cling Canada and The Pan-Amer­i­can Cy­cling Con­fed­er­a­tion. Rid­ers from 44 na­tions of the Pan-Amer­i­can Cy­cling Con­fed­er­a­tion (COPACI) may com­pete.

“Our or­ga­niz­ing team is in­cred­i­bly ex­cited to in­vite the Amer­i­cas to Mid­land. It is a fan­tas­tic op­por­tu­nity, and the ben­e­fits will go well be­yond cy­cling for our ru­ral com­mu­nity. We have part­nered with the lo­cal Ge­or­gian Bay Hos­pi­tal Foun­da­tion to raise funds through the event,” said John Hauser, also the event di­rec­tor for Sil­ver Goose Cy­clocross.

This marks the first time ever that Canada will host the Cham­pi­onships. Its 2018 dates are Nov. 3-4. Also, for the first time, a Mas­ters PanAmer­i­can Cham­pi­onships will be held this year, of­fer­ing the ti­tle to rac­ers in 10-year age groups, aged 35 and above.

Pan-Amer­i­can cham­pi­ons will be se­lected in five cat­e­gories of Elite rac­ing: ju­nior men, U23 women and men, as well as Elite women and men. The Cham­pi­onships pro­vide an op­por­tu­nity for rac­ers to gain valu­able Union Cy­cliste In­ter­na­tionale points for in­ter­na­tional seed­ing and to re­ceive the pres­ti­gious Pan Am cham­pion’s jersey to wear in com­pe­ti­tion.

Canada will de­but as host of the 2018 Pan-Am CX Cham­pi­onships in Mid­land, Ont.
