Canada’s Boilard de­liv­ered a stel­lar eighth-place re­sult in the ju­nior women’s 76.4km road race at the 2017 Road Worlds. Pir­rone (ITA) took the win over Emma Jor­gensen (DEN) in sec­ond, with Italy’s Le­tizia Pater­nos­ter in third. Team Canada’s At­twell was 37th, Jus­saume was 63rd and Maggie Coles-Lys­ter fin­ished in 70th. Boilard won gold at the 2017 Canada Sum­mer Games in Win­nipeg, Man. in July.

Sta­ples had a su­perb day in the sad­dle in the main break for most of the day in the ju­nior men’s 133.8km race, won by Julius Jo­hansen (DEN). The break fell apart on the fourth lap as rid­ers started at­tack­ing and the pelo­ton closed in. Luca Rastelli (ITA) fin­ished sec­ond, with team­mate Michele Gaz­zoli in third.

The top Canuck was Chre­tien, the reign­ing Cana­dian ju­nior cham­pion, in 45th, as Sta­ples fell back af­ter a long hard day to fin­ish 107th. Kurt Penno from Bran­don, Man. was 116th and Michael Fo­ley from Mil­ton, Ont. did not fin­ish.
