Kirch­mann led the Cana­dian charge, fin­ish­ing 12th in a hard-fought 152.8km Elite women’s road race, an eight-lap race won by Chan­tal Blaak (NED) on the fi­nal lap of the com­pe­ti­tion.

Gar­foot (AUS) claimed the sil­ver, and Amalie Diderik­sen (DEN), the de­fend­ing cham­pion, took home the bronze medal in the bunch sprint to the line.

All Cana­di­ans fin­ished the tough course with the bru­tal Salmon Hill climb and much longer dis­tance than usual for the Elite women.

Canuel fin­ished 32nd, Ali­son Jack­son was 57th, Lex Al­brecht fin­ished 67th, Sara Ber­gen was 68th, and Kirsti Lay placed 73rd de­spite be­ing caught up in a crash and go­ing down on the fifth lap.
