Barnburner bringing in 19 teams

Nineteen teams will suit up for some fastpaced, hard-hitting action at the annual Penticton Minor Lacrosse Associatio­n Bantam Barnburner Tournament Friday to Sunday at Memorial and Summerland arenas.

There are 13 teams competing in a Bantam B event and another six in a Bantam 2A competitio­n.

Action gets going Friday at 12:30 p.m. and continues through to the two championsh­ip games, Sunday at 1 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. at Memorial Arena.

The Bantam A event includes Kelowna, Vancouver, Surrey, Coquitlam, Prince George and the host Penticton Heat.

The Bantam B event is divided into three pools, with the host Penticton team in the Sunoka group along with Williams Lake, West Kootenay, Surrey and Port Coquitlam.

The Vaseux pool includes Kelowna, Shuswap, Coquitlam and Delta, while the Tuc-el-Nuit pool features Kamloops, Mission, Nicola Valley and New Westminste­r. Here is the schedule for the Penticton teams: FRIDAY: Bantam B, Penticton vs. West Kootenay, 12:30 p.m., Memorial; Bantam 2A, Penticton vs. Vancouver, 1:45 p.m., Memorial.

SATURDAY: Bantam B, Penticton vs. Williams Lake, 9:15 a.m., Memorial; Bantam A2, Penticton vs. Prince George, 11:45 a.m., Summerland.

Bantam B, Penticton vs, Surrey, 1:15 p.m., Memorial; Bantam A2, Penticton vs. Surrey, 6:15 p.m., Memorial.

Playoff rounds will be played Sunday starting with the Bantam B semifinals at 8 a.m. at both arenas. A series of placement games follows, including the Bantam A2 bronze-medal game at 11:45 a.m. at the Summerland Arena.

The Bantam A2 title game is at 1 p.m. and the Bantam B final at 2:15 p.m.
