Lake City led for much of the game before struggling down the stretch in a 39-38 loss to Coquitlam West.

Jaden Yamamoto and Tess Widney each had six points and five rebounds and Sophie Brydon six points and three boards.

Brydon had eight points and four rebounds as Lake City topped South Vancouver Island No. 2 team 40-28.

Lexi Corday (6 points, 4 boards) and Karrah Roelfsema (4 points, 5 boards) also sparked the offence.

Brydon logged 10 points and three boards and Yamamoto had eight points and six rebounds as Lake City beat South Vancouver Island No. 1 team 39-25.

Brinay Burdick had eight points, Widney six and Corday four.

Corday racked up 12 points and four boards and Brydon had 10 points as Lake City ended with a 40-25 win over Triple Threate.

Burdick added six points and Widney and Roelfsema each had four.

“Players such as Zoe Vriends, Rylee Pennock, Lauren Brooke and Morgan Montgomery-Reid did a fantastic job in supporting roles, making hustle plays to give us extra possessions and finding ways to contribute at both ends of the floor,” said Lake City coach Chris Terris.

UNDER-17 GIRLS

Point guard Hannah Clarke initiated a strong transition game and distributed the ball nicely as Lake City opened up by beat Lynn Valley 68-36.

Annick Cole played her typically tough defence and Brittany Young, in her first club game of the year also contributed both offensively and defensively.

In Game 2, Lake City fell 78-29 to Triple Threat but played much better than in the first meeting earlier this season at the UBC-Okanagan tourney.

Under-15 players called up for the weekend — Emma Terris, Kayley Davies, Kali Loewen — gave Lake City some energy and a spark off the bench.

In a game that saw numerous lead chances, Lake City emerged with a 59-51 win over the Mulgrave Mustangs from West Vancouver.

Jocelyn Brady had a terrific game and Natalie Parkin made some superb fast-break passes that led to layups against Mulgrave’s full-court pressure.

In another back-and-forth affair, Cole nailed a three-point shot to ice the game as Lake City got past a hard-working and well-coached Prince George Timberwolves team.

Once again, Lake City dominated the paint, but the Mustangs had a great transition and guard play that equaled Lake City’s inside presence.

Leading scorers over the four games were Emma Schneider, Madison Terbasket and Lyndzie Caron.

Top defensive players were Cole and Brittany Young, while assist leaders were Clarke and Terris.
