Clifton wins Twin Lakes title

Clint Clifton carded a 75 to take the low gross title at the Twin Lakes Golf Resort Senior Men’s Open on Friday.

Other low gross flight winners were Thad Elder at 78, Don Minto at 80 and Gerry Nimchuk at 88.

Jim Marten captured the overall low net at 65, while other flight winners were Larry Thompson at 67, Glen Deobald at 69 and Art Moore at 67.

James Fofonoff scored twice to give Summerland a big 3-2 road win over the Raiders in Capri Okanagan Oldtimers’ Soccer league 55-and-over division action Thursday at Rutland Sports Fields.

Darryl Pace also scored for Summerland (6-3-0), who took sole possession of third place.

Closest to the pin winners were Don Affleck on No. 2, Nimchuk on No. 5 and Elder on No. 11. Sharing the deuce pot were Clifton, Minto, Affleck, Nimchuk, Art Futa and Reid Sutherland.

At the Twin Lakes ladies’ O.N.E.S. game on Wednesday, Diane Gordon and Darlene Gordon finished tied for first.

Bernice Moody, Lou-Anne Gowing and Linda Thomson finished tied for third, Pat Sutherland came sixth and Diane Krancenblu­m seventh.

John Milne and Walter Morlj scored for the Raiders.

At Rosewood Sports Field, Jindro Vilimek in the first half and Tony Gonzales in the second connected as Westside blanked Penticton TC Auto 2-0 at Rosewood Sports Field.

Westside (6-2-1) leads North Country (6-1-1) on goal difference for first place. North Country beat Silver Stars 4-1.

Penticton and Summerland are both on the road Thursday for 7:30 p.m. games in Kelowna.
