Robinson top female; locals win mixed relay
Claire Robinson of Vancouver held on to win the women’s half-distance event at the Challenge Penticton triathlon on Sunday.
Robinson, competing in the 18-24 category, finished 15th overall in a time of 5:02:38 to edge out second-place Kristi Bescher of Spokane by just 38 seconds. Besscher clocked a 5:03:16.
Rounding out the top five were Lindsay Glassford of Invermere, B.C. (5:05:21), Victoria Gilbert of Brentwood Bay, B.C. (5:09:37) and Kaileen McCulloch of Smithers, B.C. (5:15:21). Gloria Woolner was the top local female at 5:44:38.

Clive Bradley of Penticton was top local finisher, coming 11th overall and first in men’s 18-24 category in 2:58:48. Stephanie Gomes-Ortiz of Penticton was the top local female, coming second in women’s 18-24 and 31st overall in 3:27:12.
AQUABIKE (2 km swim, 93 km bike): 1st, Robert Johnson, Brentwood Bay, 2:58:43; 2nd, Jeevan Philip, Seattle, 3:07:30; 3rd, Brian Weissinger, Boise, Idaho, 3:07:51.
Top local finisher was Dennis Slade of Penticton in 12th place at 3:34:21.
