Happy BC Day from gas stations

-

Dear Editor: Hmm. The oil oligopoly has done it again. Raised prices on gasoline right before another holiday weekend. From $1.07 to $1.17 per liter — a whole 10 cents per litre! Or in the old gallon language 40 cents per gallon! I will waste no tears when this criminal oligopoly finally collapses and we all drive electric cars.

Of course, we will then be subject to our electrical monopoly Fortis. I can see their corporate board rubbing their hands with glee at this windfall. Robert Cowie Naramata

On a side note, I also read Mr. Kimberley’s letter of Aug. 5. All I can say, Mr. Kimberley, is that I have been telling the upper echelon at the City for years that they need to clean up the city if they want the tourist industry to improve here. My pleas have always fallen on deaf ears.

With all the bad decisions by mayor and council, coupled by the seeming indifference with respect to the crime in this city, I hate to say it, but Penticton is dying a slow death.

Clean up the city, get rid of the drug dealers (the RCMP must know who the players are by now; the days of five-year investigations should come to a halt), and everything else will fall into place.

As much as I hate Donald Trump, I must slightly amend and use one of his signature phrases. Let’s make Penticton great again. Mark Billesberger

Favours for favours. If so hopefully they are legitimate. I hate to say it , but I wonder.

Can someone from the City please inform us taxpaying citizens what procedure they followed that lead to the City of Penticton paying the cost of the clean up.

I’m surprised that this topic has not had more concerned citizens writing into the Penticton Herald. What has happened here is just not right.

Come on people, stick up for yourselves and voice your concerns. Let council know how wrong they were in this matter. Wayne Murphy

Penticton itself may not occupy any currently use-able parking space, where will the parking for this facility be?

Some may recall that the tourist information centre that was constructed on Westminister Ave. in the 1990s had to be replaced with the one on the corner of Power and Eckhardt due to lack of parking for larger RVs. The information centre will simply be moving from its temporary location in the SOEC parking lot to another location on the grounds that will require parking. Insanity.

If all of these proposals come to fruition, the legacy for this particular council will be the loss of the SOEC as a viable self supporting asset. Claude Bergman Penticton
