Calling singers and carollers

-

Dear Editor: We need The Herald readership’s help in attracting groups of singers to participate in a new fundraiser for the Grandmothers for Africa.

On Thursday, Nov. 23, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m., Carolling for a Cause will take place in downtown Penticton. The Grannies are partnering with the Downtown Business Association and the funds raised will go to the Stephen Lewis Foundation to assist African Grandmothers raising a generation of children orphaned by AIDS and the breakfast learning club that feeds hungry children in three Penticton schools.

We plan to fill the downtown with groups of singers, a group could be a trio or more than 20. The audience will move from group to group and purchase buttons to vote for their favourite. The evening will end with all the participants coming to Nanaimo Square for a final song and tree lighting.

So… are you a member of a choir or do you have a group of friends or co-workers who would be willing to belt out Christmas songs loud and proud? Come and sing your heart out and get in the Christmas spirit!

Since the singers are stationary and the audience moves, repeating songs is totally possible. Our registration forms available from Judi Ritcey at: jritcey49@gmail.com. She can answer any questions.

This could be a great team building opportunity for businesses. It is a unique way to give back during the holidays. If you would like to part of this fun filled event call Corinne at 250-493-0092 before Nov. 10.
