Police are investigating after a suspicious man stopped to talk to two girls near Armstrong Elementary School on Dec. 5.

RCMP received a report of an unknown male who attempted to speak to two girls who were walking home from school near the 3010 block of Pleasant Valley Road, shortly before 3 p.m.

A man stopped his vehicle next to the girls and spoke to them, said Const. Kelly Brett.

The girls did not respond and quickly walked away, while the suspect vehicle drove toward the highway.

“The youths did the absolute right thing by not engaging the male and quickly walking away together,” said Brett.

“We are issuing this advisory out of caution and praise the youth for taking note of the vehicle and the man’s descriptors. We have received no further complaints in relation to this and believe it is an isolated incident.”

The suspect is described as an older man in his 50s with dark skin and a moustache.

The vehicle is described as an oldermodel gold or brown vehicle with rust above the tires.

Investigators would like to speak with the driver of the vehicle.

The driver or anyone with information is asked to call police at 250-546-3028, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
