Tigers trounce Flames

- By Penticton Herald Staff

It was another tough night at the office for the Penticton Flames on the road against the league’s best team. Quinn Stanhope tallied four goals and Jordy Barr added three as the Vernon Tigers torched the Flames 16-4 in Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League action Saturday at Kal Tire Place.

The Flames fell to 1-5-2 but stayed one point ahead of lastplace Armstrong Shamrocks (1-7-1), who lost 15-6 to the Kamloops Venom.

Kaden Doughty and Eric Reid each scored twice and Caden Colmorgen notched a goal and four assists for Vernon (6-0-2).

Chase Wirth and Jake Pelletier had the other goals as the Tigers build period leads of 7-3 and 10-4.

Aiden Canada with two, Louis Shortreed and Jake Mcleod scored for the Flames, who were outshot 47-25.

Vernon came out flying and scoring the first seven goals of the contest – and it was all they’d need.

The Flames got three goals back but Vernon quickly took over with the first three goals of the second period to make it 10-3. The Tigers outscored the Flames 6-0 in the third period.

The Flames will hope to right the ship at home tonight as they welcome Kamloops to Memorial Arena in a 7:30 p.m. start

Penticton visits Armstrong in a pivotal game on Friday.

The Flames close out the regular season with a home game against Vernon June 18 and away to Kamloops on June 25.
