Tony Munoz and Penticton TCA beat up on lowly Kelowna Vintage to stay in contention for top spot in the Capri Okanagan Oldtimers’ 55-and-over soccer league.

Munoz took his league-leading haul to 25 goals with four snipes in an 8-0 romp over Vintage Thursday at King’s Park.

Gord McLaren, Mark Gjini, David Cruikshank and Peter Toth also scored for Penticton (9-4-2), who jumped one spot into third place, a point behind Brown Benefits 55 and four behind leagueleading Raiders.

The Raiders (10-2-3) blasted Beasley FC 7-0 while Brown (9-1-3) thumped Brandt’s Creek 6-2. Brown is in good position with two games in hand on the leaders.

Ledcor Kickers (9-3-1) are also in the hunt in fourth place after beating Kal Tire 4-1. Kal (9-5-1) dropped to fifth place on goal difference.

The top five teams are separated to just five points.

Summerland, meanwhile, dropped a 5-1 decision to Silver Stars at Parkinson Rec Centre. Mark Wasylyk with three and John Matjicka with two scored for Silver Stars (8-6-1), while James Fofonoff clicked for Summerland (3-7-3).

Both local teams are at home on Thursday at 7 p.m. with Penticton taking on Brandt’s Creek at King’s Park, and Summerland facing Ledcor at Dale Meadows Park.

45-and-over: Penticton Dental Centre FC has virtually no chance of challenging for first place, but have a chance to impact the race as they take on defending-champion Brown Benefits tonight at CNB Middle School field in West Kelowna.

Penticton (8-4-1) is tied for third place, while Brown (10-0-3) is in dire need of a win as they sit four points behind first-place Turn Key Controls (12-0-1).

Penticton lost to Turn Key 4-1 last Monday with Ron Dirksen scoring the lone goal for the locals.
