How did shooter have a gun?

-

Dear Editor: Re: The latest mass shooting (New Brunswick) by a deranged man.

The question that should be asked, as always, is not why did he do it, but why could he do it?

In other words, why and how, did he get a gun (guns)? Joy Lang Penticton her parents that they would provide a good education for herself and her brother at their school in Alberta.

They also promised the parents that the children would not be separated. The moment they crossed the border into Alberta, they were separated — the boy to work in the sugar beet fields, and she to school. She told me about being scrubbed with hard brushes so she would be clean and white. I was appalled, said so, and asked how she could ever forgive such behaviour. Her reply was that that woman was ignorant, but she got the education that has made her able to be of great help and value to her people.

Obviously, many things could have been better managed. In what era has that not been so? However, when I hear arguments that contain the words “all” and “every,” I cannot accept them as valid. Neither are they words that are reconciliatory.

I agree wholeheartedly with Webb: “..why don't First Nations put up a statue to represent the culture of First Nations in the history of our country — Canada.” I would suggest that the many beautiful totem poles are exactly that. I imagine many people would be offended if they were to be arbitrarily removed. Eleanor Walker Okanagan Falls
