Penticton products place 1st in both men’s and women’s Campbell Mountain cross-country race

Penticton’s Fred Albrechtso­n clocked an even 36 minutes to win the Campbell Mountain 8.8K cross-country race Sunday.

Albrechtso­n and runner-up Keagan Ingram of Summerland were both competing in the men’s 16-19 age group. David Guss of Kelowna rounded out the top three.

The top female was Kikkan Randall, also of Penticton, who was eighth overall in 41:30. Jessie Carriere of Penticton finished second and 20th overall in 47:27.

A field of 76 runners took part in the race put on by the Penticton Pounders Running Club. It is the first in the Interior Cross Country Series and also included a Kid’s Mountain Miler which had 15 runners.

Other top local finishers in the race are as follows:

MEN’S: 2nd, Ingram, 36:28; 4th, Josh Heinrich, Pent., 36:57 (1st in 35-39); 5th, Tim Musselman-Bell, Pent., 38:07; 9th, David Larsen, Pent., 42:28.

10th, Eli Grant, Pent., 43:05; 12th, Michael Berrisford, S’land, 44:30 (1st in 50-54); 13th, Jared Breneman, Pent., 44:36; 14th, Connor Berrisford, S’land, 44:41 (1st in 15-andunder); 17th, Alex Achtem, S’land, 46:36; 18th, Brad Lee, Pent., 46:58 (1st in 60-64); 19th, Steve Buzikievic­h, S’land, 47:06.

WOMEN’S: 21st, Tayla Ingram, S’land, 47:41 (1st in 15-and-under); 31st, Gloria Woolner, Pent., 50:02 (1st in 55-59); 33rd, Tracey Michael, Pent., 51:23 (1st in 40-44); 39th, Heidi Ingram, S’land, 53:16 (1st in 45-49).

44th, Ayla Musselman-Bell, Pent., 55:38; 45th, Ingrid Musselman-Bell, Pent., 55:39; 46th, Donna Sawchyn, Pent., 55:50; 53rd, Jilly Martens, Pent., 58:38; 55th, Alison Crawford, S’land, 59:42 (1st in 60-64); 57th, Shirley Anderson, Pent., 59:50.

The next race in the series is also put on by the Pounders Club, the Summerland Sweets 7.4K/TriPower 3.2K, which will be taking place this Sunday at the Summerland Rodeo Grounds.
