Hoodooo branching out to resort biz

The historic Chute Lake Lodge is under new ownership.

Penticton-based Hoodoo Adventure Company announced Friday it has acquired the property in partnership with some other local investors.

The group intends to renovate and refresh the lodge to make it a year-round, world-class adventure destination.

“Chute Lake Lodge is an adventurer’s dream nestled right on the Kettle Valley Trail and bordering Okanagan Provincial Park. It has amazing potential,” Hoodoo coowner Lyndie Hill said in a press release.

“We look forward to working with our partners to create a unique destination to stay, play and take advantage of all the Okanagan has to offer.”

Renovations will begin immediately, and the resort, which is about a 45-minute drive from Penticton, is expected to reopen Dec. 1.

The resort had been up for sale for years at a list price of $1.2 million. It boasts an eight-room lodge with eight guest rooms, eight individual cabins and 36 campsites.

Dirty Book Sale starts Saturday

The slyly named Dirty Book Sale begins this coming Saturday at the Penticton library.

Up for grabs will be books that have been taken out of circulation to make room for new arrivals. Proceeds will go towards the purchase of new materials.

The sales typically last for a couple of weeks with books set up on tables in the library atrium.

The best finds can always be had on the first day of the sale, which opens at 9:30 a.m.
