Glengarry Club grabs dozen medals in Kamloops

The Glengarry Skating Club racked up 12 medals at the BC/Yukon Super Series Autumn Leaves Competitio­n last weekend in Kamloops.

The club picked up a gold, eight silver and three bronze medals at the event. Results are as follows: Freeskate: Juvenile Women Under-14: Lauren Bitte, 10th, 21.39 pts (personal best)

Gold Women: Jordana McEachern, 2nd, 33.66pts (PB); Saki Smith, 4th, 31.02 pts (PB)

KIJHL

The two local KIJHL teams are on the road this weekend for games tonight and Saturday.

The Summerland Steam (9-6-1) are unbeaten in six games as they visit the North Okanagan Knights tonight and the 100 Mile House Wranglers on Saturday.

The Osoyoos Coyotes (2-10-1), who halted an 11-game winless skid last weekend, visit the Spokane Braves tonight and Princeton Posse on Saturday.

Osoyoos is back home to take on Princeton on Tuesday at the Sun Bowl Arena.

Next home action for the Steam is Nov. 2 versus the Creston Valley ThunderCat­s.

Action gets under way today at 4:45 p.m. and continues through to the championsh­ip tilt Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Arena.

McLaren Park Arena, the SOEC and the OHS Training Centre rinks will also be utilized for the 33-game tournament.

There are two teams each from Kamloops and Kelowna and entries from Vernon, Salmon Arm, Castlegar Abbotsford, Surrey, Semiahmoo, Langley, Port Moody, Cloverdale and Vancouver.

Today’s slate features eight games with Penticton 1 playing Kamloops at 4:45 p.m. at the SOEC and Penticton 2 taking on Semiahmoo at 5 p.m. at Memorial.

Each team plays twice on Saturday with action starting at 6:30 a.m. at Memorial and ending with a game at 8:30 p.m.

On Sunday, the semifinals are at 6:30 a.m. at Memorial and 6:45 a.m. at OHS.

BOWLING

Maryann Mckenzie had a big night in Monday Night Mixed 5-pin bowling league play at the Roll N Stones Fun Centre.

Mckenzie had the ladies’ high single of 270 and high four-game score of 818. Lori Hood retained the high average of 218.

On the men’s side, Matt Simpson notched the high single of 332, Mike Elder had the high four-game of 1,021 and high average of 265.

Team Simpson took the high single of 884 and the high four-game of 3,197.

Thursday Night Men’s 10-pin: Darren Vipond notched the high single of 216 and high triple of 551 and Bob Biro had the high average of 182.

James Bernique at 202 and Jack Huff at 201 also recorded 200-plus games.

Sparkles Young Guns at 923 had the team high single and Nor-Mar Trucking took the team high triple of 2,575.
