Big promotion for city corporate officer

-

The City of Penticton didn’t have to go very far to find a new corporate officer.

Angie Collison was until last week the city’s deputy corporate officer, but has now been promoted to the top job, Mayor Andrew Jakubeit revealed at Tuesday’s council meeting.

Collison replaces Dana Schmidt, who left for a job in Delta, according to the mayor.

Schmidt joined the City of Penticton in 2013 from the District of Lake Country.

Land swap completed for creek project

As part of the ongoing Penticton Creek restoration project, the city is swapping land with a homeowner on Van Horne Street.

The city will be receiving 85.4 square metres of land and the homeowner 93.3 square metres, both of which run along the creek’s edge.

The parcels, which cover 287 and 295 Van Horne St., will be exchanged for a total of $1 and no adjustment in utilities or property taxes will be made. Council signed off at its meeting Tuesday. Costs to the city are an estimated $7,000, including legal fees and surveying expenses, and will be paid for from the creek revitalization budget.
