Both the Campbell Mountain Landfill and the transfer station in Keremeos will be open as usual this Sunday, which is a statutory holiday for Remembrance Day.

“November is one of the busiest times of year at local landfills due to large volumes of yard waste,” facility operator the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen said in a press release.

“In prior years, closing the Campbell Mountain Landfill created lineups and problems the next day. Keeping the landfill open will help people deal with cleaning up their properties.”

Campbell Mountain, along with landfills in Oliver and Okanagan Falls, will also be open again on Monday.

Local landfills will switch to reduced winter operating hours effective Dec. 1.
