New pub a welcome addition to downtown

-

Dear editor, I am looking forward to visiting Brexit Pub, which is something Penticton needs, a multi-purpose entertainment venue, not just another restaurant which we have ample numbers of.

One of my favourite venues has karaoke two nights a week and serves great food, it’s a long way from my house though. Brexit, like another downtown venue that has entertainment and food, is much closer and I miss the English pubs I visited years ago.

I am sad that the city isn’t thinking outside the box or supporting different types of businesses in the city.

Like Oliver, Penticton seems to take businesses for granted and make survival difficult for them.

Does the city support the businesses in malls and shopping centres? My impression is that Penticton doesn’t as malls lose tenants due to high rents or poor traffic levels.

Rather than make dumb deals with people like Loren Reagan and his former partner or allow outsiders to ruin local parks like Skaha, support the small businesses like So Sweet with lower rates, given their landlords’ high rents, or “in kind” and ensure that they are given high visibility.

Oh, and ensure that new businesses are prepared when they come to town, we don’t need another high-profile failure like Carl’s Jr. and we don’t need any more hamburger or coffee franchises. Patrick Longworth Penticton
