South Okanagan’s two ski resorts set to open soon

-

It won’t be much longer now. Two ski resorts in the South Okanagan are both expected to open Dec. 14, after pushing back their original targets by a week due to a lack of snow.

“The forecast is getting whiter after a sunny autumn season, however, there is not yet enough snow on the ground at Baldy Mountain Resort to safely open the mountain for the season,” the hill said in a press release Thursday.

Baldy is located about 35 minutes east of Oliver and 45 minute east of Osoyoos.

Apex Mountain Resort, located about 40 minutes west of Penticton, also noted its concern for skier safety in a Facebook post regarding its opening date.

The hill had a 45-centimetre alpine base as of Thursday.
