With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Noreen on Sunday January the 6th in Kelowna. Noreen was born and grew up in Winnipeg. After high school she moved to Ottawa to work. Then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 during world war II. At the end of the war she moved to Kelowna to be with family. There she married her husband Harold, they had met while skating on the pond at the Kelowna Golf and Country club. It was here they were to raise their five children. Noreen loved the outdoors and spent many great times camping hiking and canoeing with family and friends. She became very involved in the Girl Guides of Canada and served in many ways for forty-seven years, even sleeping out of doors into her eighties. As a member of the First United Church in Kelowna Noreen taught Sunday school for many years and became involved in many committees in the church. She accomplished this while she worked full time as a business administrator for a number of firms in Kelowna. Noreen was loved and respected by all who were lucky to have known her. Noreen was predeceased by her loving husband Harold, daughter in law Wanda and son in law John Schenk. She leaves behind sons Harold (Jeanna), George, Robert (Heidi), Jeff (Cathy) daughter Kathleen, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all. A memorial service will be held at the Kelowna First United Church on Bernard, January 19th 2019 at 2pm, a tea service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Inn From The Cold or a charity of your choice.
