SELL, Katherine Aloysius (Keough)

-

February 11, 1924 – January 10, 2019

Passed peacefully away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Lake Country Lodge, Lake Country, BC. Katherine (Kitty) was predeceased by her husband Don Sell, 2001, parents Catherine and John Keough, brothers, Patrick, Arthur, Brendan, Stan, sisters Eileen, Angela, and Monica. She was the youngest and last surviving member of the family. Leaving to mourn is her loving and devoted daughter, Lee-Ann Mitchell and her beautiful grandchildren Makayla, Joshua, and Madison of Nanaimo, British Columbia as well as members of the Sell family, their children and grandchildren especially Candace Gallagher and her husband Robert and sons Quinn and Benn of Lake Country who were selfless in their love and support of Kitty. She also leaves to mourn a large and extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins, Keoughs, O’Reilly’s and McKiernans, and their families, across Canada and the United States. As well as friends in Kelowna, especially her good neighbour and friends from Glenview, Pauline and Peter. Kitty was born on Bell Island, Newfoundland on February 11, 1924. She joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as a young woman upon leaving Newfoundland and after serving her country ended her service with the forces at Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. The remainder of her working life and retirement was spent in Kelowna; she and Don travelled extensively in Canada, the US and Central America, always a summer fishing trip for good measure and after Don’s passing, Kitty continued to travel to visit relatives and attend family gatherings well into her 80’s. She loved to laugh, tell a story and share a joke. She stayed up on current affairs, loved a good discussion, was always fully engaged in life. She would talk about her childhood growing up in Newfoundland, with great wit and fondness. She enjoyed the occasional drink of sherry and always loved her chocolate. Even in the last days she was alert and always happy to see you come through the door. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank the staff at Lake Country Lodge for their care of Kitty over the last few years. Kitty was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Kelowna. A Catholic Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 16 at 11 AM at St. Pius X in Kelowna. She will be laid to final rest with her husband Don in Wausau, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting
