Police in Vernon tipped to man with stolen goods

- By Okanagan Weekend Staff

A Vernon man is in police custody after being found with stolen property.

Police responded early Thursday morning to reports of a man carrying what was believed to be stolen property.

He was found with a Giant brand mountain bike, a Trek brand mountain bike and two camouflage pellet guns.

“It was the keen eye of the witness that followed their gut instinct and believed the property may have been stolen, thus contacting the police so our officers could attend to investigate,” said Const. Kelly Brett in a press release Friday. “Through investigation, officers located other alleged stolen property on the suspect that was previously reported to police, thus leading officers to believe the two bikes and two airsoft rifles are possible stolen property that has not yet been reported to police.”

The man faces possible charges of possession of stolen property.
