Russia, China, India are major polluters, not Canadians

-

DEAR EDITOR:

Re: “Environmental group sounds warning on Okanagan pipeline,” by Joe Fries (Herald, Page 1, April 22).

Jim Beattie and other Greens do not have to worry about the Fortis-planned new 30-mile pipeline. Our Greenpeace Environment Minister months ago stated that it is his plan to shut down every pipeline in Canada. So we have to assume it will be done before the next election.

I find it strange that people like Mr. Beattie, Mark Carney, David Suzuki, and all the so-called Green charities never mention anything about China’s gift to Canada every day.

Every single day, China sends us their emissions from their coal-fired power plants. They, along with Russia and India represent 45% of the planet’s emissions while Canada is considered the worst polluter at 1.5% of world emissions.

China is building another 1,171 new coal power plant to go with the already 3,534 coal power plants.

When completed by decades end China, Russia and India will be sending us their emission guck for the next 50 years and they will represent around 60% of the world’s emissions.

Most will flow to Canada via the winds. So we will have no chance of ever attaining net zero, whatever that means.

In science there is no such thing as zero.

Fortunately any day now Greenpeace, David Suzuki Foundation, Jim Beattie, Mark Carney and so on, will be leaving Canada in their sailboats and going to China to protest their actions. Just hope the CBC records their actions for us all to see.

Just an added note if they were to close down the pipelines, that would be the end of the drug stores and most grocery stores as almost everything they sell is made from natural gas (sulphur) and oils. We will have to import almost all of our medicines and all other goods packaged in plastic.

I wrote our Greenpeace Environment Minister six months ago asking if will give advance notice of shutting down the pipelines. All the farmers will definitely want to know when so they can soak their land for the last time. Of course, he never did reply.
