Brooks man hopes to sell his outlook to UCP membership core

Todd Beasley, 56, a contestant for the UCP nomination in the Medicine HatBrooks riding, spoke to a gathering of supporters at the Cypress Club on Thursday afternoon.

The nomination winner “will be the next MLA,” Beasley told his supporters, calling it time to “inject common sense” back into Alberta politics.

He claims the UCP must win the next provincial election or the province will face financial doom over the deficit and debt burden.

“We need to fight and fight hard for the Alberta advantage,” said Beasley. “We need people in government to fight for the Alberta advantage and our competitiveness.”

He works as the technical director of an agriculture processing company and has a career in leading development of patented environmental technologies used internationally. He testified in 2016 to Parliament as an expert in a field of science referred to as gas trading.

Beasley feels it is this experience that makes him uniquely suited to challenge some of the decisions the NDP government has made in Alberta. When it comes to the climate change leadership of the NDP government he believes we will be facing significantly higher power bills and that the current cap on those rates is not sustainable because it is being done with “borrowed money.”

Beasley believes in having MLAs with experience.

“I believe experience matters”, Beasley told his Medicine Hat supporters.

To vote in the nomination race you must hold a current UCP membership by June 28.
