Grasslands National Park invites Canadians to the Grasslander Classic Event July 28. The adventure begins at 2 p. m. in the Frenchman Valley Campground located in the West Block of Grasslands National Park, near the Village of Val Marie. Enjoy the day in true prairie style kayaking the heart of the Frenchman River, touring the bison handling facility, all before gathering on the wagon to hear stories of the open range. Be sure to try your hand at archery and rally your team to play in the ball hockey tournament. Join in the excitement at the kids activity pavilion and dance the night away at the outdoor concert event with Guy & the Fellas and Buck$ hot featuring Canadian Idol finalist Tyler Lewis. This is a story time program that includes books, rhymes, finger plays, crafts, and puppet shows. Maker Kids’ Club meets at 2 p.m. on Thursdays. This program is for children ages 612. On Thursday, August 9 make LED Butterfly Lanterns, and then on Thursday, August 16 Read to a Donkey and meet and play with Sphero Bots! Buffalo Country Fair at the community hall. Entries for the fair will be taken Thursday from 6-8:30 p.m. and Friday from 8-10 a.m. Judging takes place Friday at 1 p.m. The fair will be open to the public at 4 p.m., with supper to follow at 5:30 and entertainment taking place after the awards. Living Sky Casino and Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation are pleased to host Swift Current’s firstever outdoor RIBFEST, August 3 – 5, 2018. The RIBFEST will be held in the Living Sky Casino parking lot and is a family friendly event featuring world class rib champions. The ribbers will be serving up a variety of southernstyle barbeque items including ribs, brisket and chicken. Live entertainment includes Megan Nash, League of Wolves, Rocking 58’s, Bakersfield, Bears in Hazenmore, Orel Fuentes and the Steve Gibson Band. The Canadian Rescue Hovercraft Pilots Association will host the first ever Great Canadian Hover Rally August 3rd to 6th. Activities and demonstrations will held in Swift Current and Sask Landing Provincial Park. Participants will include homebuilt, commercial and business hovercrafts. Bow Island Ag Society Rodeo. The event is Chinook Rodeo Association co-approved with CCA and FCA. The action starts at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3 and at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4. Saturdays action will include mutton bustin' for kids 7 and under. There will also be mini bronc riding, with limited space available for entries. Gate admission is $10/adults and $5/child, five years old and under are free.
