The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta announces Marlene Watson is the new Regional Development Manager.

The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta (CFSEA) is pleased to welcome Marlene Watson as their new Regional Development Manager.

She will be working closely with the recently formed community fund advisory committees in Brooks and District, County of Forty Mile and Oyen and District.

In the spring of 2018, Watson was contracted by CFSEA to determine the feasibility of establishing community funds in the Brooks, Oyen, Bow Island, Foremost and surrounding areas. Marlene brings many years’ managerial level experience from the charitable and post- secondary institution sectors.

Some may remember her time from the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta as Office Manager.

“We acknowledge that there is a wide variety of differing needs in the areas we serve and we are the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta, not just Medicine Hat,” notes Executive Director Chris Christie. “People want to give where they live – to help address those distinct needs and challenges and to give back to the communities that they love.

As Regional Development Manager, Watson will support each area’s Advisory Committee in building their own fund, determining local granting priorities and managing local investment income disbursement.”

The Community Foundation maximizes its generosity by pooling donations and gifting the investment income to all our local charities. The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta (CFSEA) is a non-profit, registered charity, governed by a volunteer board of directors.

They describe its mission as threefold:

• WE GROW: CFSEA engages donors with causes they are passionate about to build permanent endowments.

• WE GIVE: CFSEA distributes investment earnings to a broad range of community initiatives.

• WE INSPIRE: CFSEA connects issues, convenes partners, and develops community-based solutions.
