Western Canada Young Artist Competition winner in concert
The Canadian Federation of Music Teachers, in partnership with the Saskatchewan and Manitoba Registered Music Teachers, host a biannual Western Young Artist Competition with an objective being that the winner of this competition is entitled to present a concert tour in both Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
This competition is open to vocalists and instrumentalists, including pianists.
The caliber of this competition is topnotch!
This is your invitation to come out to enjoy Albert Chen in concert performance in Swift Current on Saturday, September 29 at 7 p.m. at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church.
This year’s Western Canada Young Artist Competition winner is a pianist from Winnipeg.
Albert’s concert tour includes performances in Gimli, Winnipeg and Killarney, Manitoba.
Following the completion of these concerts, Albert Chen will also perform concerts in Regina, Swift Current, Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Rosetown, Saskatchewan.
Since the age of seven, pianist Albert Chen has achieved numerous successes in provincial, national and international competitions.
A few highlights of Albert Chen’s accomplishments include the following:
In 2014 Albert represented Manitoba at the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Competition in Halifax where he received the Willard Schultz prize.
Then, in 2015 he was the first place winner of the American Protégé Competition in which he performed in Carnegie Hall, NYC., and, also in 2015-2016, Albert was selected to participate in the Morningside Bridge Program in which his recordings have been included in two of their Highlight Collection CD’s. Albert’s chamber group performed at the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing as part of the MMB Gala Concert.
He is the recipient of the May Quilliam Scholarship and has been placed on the Dean’s Honor List for outstanding academic and musical achievements.
