Fun, Muddy Mayhem returns to Swift Current

- BY ANDREA CAROL

Fun, Muddy, Mayhem returns for its 3rd year in Swift Current, September 19-20.

The action-packed, exciting obstacle course race is hosted by the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation and the Cypress Health Region and it is back for another year of fundraising. Teams of four or five are invited to tackle a series of obstacles and it is an enjoyable challenging experience for the whole family of all fitness levels.

The best part is that it all goes to a good cause. September 19 is an Open Challenge and families, youth and sports teams are invited to take part. Teams of four or five can register for only $25/team. Bring your ball team, soccer team, hockey team, volleyball team or any kind of team for a fun and meaningful day.

September 20 is the Corporate/Fitness Challenge and teams of four or five adults are invited to register. Team registration is $500 and includes a barbecue supper and Blackbridge beer. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest team, best costumes and the team having the most fun.

Funds raised from this year’s Fun, Muddy, Mayhem and other events including the Radiothon will be put towards the purchase of a new portable X-ray system for the Cypress Regional Hospital.

“It is an obstacle course that the last two years we’ve created in our area behind East Side Church of God. At the end of the night after everyone is done, they wash off and we sit around and have a BBQ and some Blackbridge Beer. This is the third year and we’ve decided to go for two days,” explained Jim Dekowny, Development and Major Gifts for the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation. “We were looking for something to do at the end of our radiothon and it’s gotten so big it’s our own little event now. This year, the money will go towards a portable x-ray system for the hospital. The one right now is getting old. The new one will save lives because it’s so new and so different than what they have, it will make a big difference in the Emergency Room for those doctors for sure”.

The Dr. Noble Irwin Healthcare Foundation aims to assist its Partners toward a higher level of health care excellence. Their mission is to raise, administer and disburse funds to improve the quality and availability of healthcare for all residents living in Southwest Saskatchewan. The Fun, Muddy, Mayhem event will be wild and it’s all for a great cause!

People are encouraged to help the foundation raise money for this fantastic cause and make Swift Current Hospital Emergency Room better. If you would like to register a team or sponsor the Fun, Muddy, Mayhem Race, please call Gladys at 306-7783314 or send an email to office@drirwin foundation.com.
