Bandits move to 4-0 on preseason, host Drumheller Sept. 8

The Brooks Bandits got nine goals from six different goal scorers, extending their pre-season record to a perfect 4-0 with a 9-0 win over the Calgary Canucks on Tuesday night at the Max Bell Centre.

Bandit goalie Pierce Charleson made 14 saves for the shutout win.

Luke Bast had the game-winner with a slap shot goal from the blue line 7:32 into the game, before Bobby Harrison doubled the lead with a wrist shot off the rush at 14:02.

Early in the second, just 1:50 in, Nathan Plessis sped in on a shorthande­d breakaway and scored to make it 3-0.

Just over halfway through the period, Carter Wolski sped around the zone and fired a wrist shot in for a 4-0 lead.

Bast got his second of the game on a hard wrister from the slot three minutes later, before Brandon Scanlin one-timed in a loose puck for a 6-0 Brooks advantage after two.

In the third, William Lemay popped in a rebound goal 36 seconds in on the power play, while Plessis scored his second of the game at the 7:55 mark with a high wrist shot off the rush. Lemay capped off the scoring with his second at 15:01 of the period, firing in a power play rebound goal to notch the 9-0 final.

The Bandits outshot the Canucks 4914 in the game.

With two exhibition games left before the 2018-19 season begins, the Bandits will travel to Drumheller to take on the Dragons Friday night, before returning home for a Saturday 7 p.m. matchup with the Dragons to cap off the pre-season.
