Prairie Post (East Edition) - - Swift Current -

Swift Current wrestler Aleah Nickel was at a regular City of Swift Current council meeting on Aug. 27 to express her appreciation towards councillors and the community for their support during her trip in July as a member of Team Canada to compete at the 2018 Cadet World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. She was eliminated after losing to a wrestler from Mongolia, but Nickel felt good about how she was able to control the match until she got caught in a throw. Her participation in the world championships concluded a very successful season that included provincial and national gold medals as well as a silver medal at the Pan American Championship in Guatemala. She has already started her preparation for the new season and attended a training camp in Vancouver in early August. Pictured: Councillor Bruce Deg congratulates Aleah Nickel with her achievements during the past wrestling season, Aug. 27.
