Chi­nook high school­ers hit links, grid­iron

Good Luck to the Swift Cur­rent Comp male golf team (Ethan Fizzel, Gaige Calkins, Theo Lautsch, Nikhil Pool) who are at­tend the Pro­vin­cial Cham­pi­onship in North Bat­tle­ford on Sept 21/22. In ad­di­tion, Kaden Gram­lich, from Fox Val­ley School, also qual­i­fied for the in­di­vid­ual cham­pi­onship.

SWAC foot­ball teams were in ac­tion this week. Ev­ery­one was play­ing “Un­der the Lights” and we thank all the lo­cal spon­sors who make it all pos­si­ble.

The SC­CHS Colts im­proved to 2-0 on their sea­son. They won their home opener against Moose Jaw Vanier. The fi­nal score was 28-1. Great start by our 12-man foot­ball team.

In the clash of nine-man foot­ball in the south­west, Maple Creek hosted the Shau­navon Shad­ows Sept 14. The home­town Red­men came away with a 42-14 win. There are five games sched­uled for our foot­ball teams in the up­com­ing week. On Mon­day, Sept 17, our six-man foot­ball team from Gull Lake will travel to Out­look (LCBI) to play their resched­uled game. The SC­CHS Colts will host an­other home game. Their op­po­nent will be Wey­burn. Kick­off is sched­uled for 4 p.m. Our other three foot­ball teams will be doing a lot of trav­el­ing. Gull Lake will hit the road again on Fri­day, Sept 21 to play Cen­tral Butte.

On that same Fri­day, Maple Creek will have their first ‘away’ game against Notre Dame. Shau­navon is also on the road to Lums­den. Good Luck, teams!

The SC­CHS Colt and Ar­den soccer have a very busy week ahead. On Wed­nes­day, Sept. 19 the Colts soccer team hosts Moose Jaw Cen­tral boys. Game time is 4:30. The fol­low­ing day, Thurs­day, Sept 19, the SC­CHS Ar­dens will also host Moose Jaw Cen­tral girls. Game time is still 4:30 p.m.. The Ar­den team is de­ter­mined to be­gin an­other streak of wins.

On Satur­day, Sept 22, both SC­CHS teams are in Moose Jaw to play dou­ble head­ers. The Ar­dens and Colts will play MJ Pea­cock and then MJ Vanier.

The SWAC se­nior girls’ vol­ley­ball league has five teams en­tered (Eas­tend, Gull Lake, Van­guard, Ha­zlet, Pon­teix).

First league night was Sept 18. Hosts for the first week are Pon­teix (Van­guard, Ha­zlet at­tend­ing) and Eas­tend(host­ing Gull Lake).
