In­dige­nous new mem­bers be­ing sought for AHS Wis­dom Coun­cil

Al­berta Health Ser­vices (AHS) is cur­rently seek­ing In­dige­nous Al­ber­tans to be­come mem­bers of the Wis­dom Coun­cil.

The coun­cil pro­vides guid­ance and rec­om­men­da­tions to AHS on ser­vice de­liv­ery, pro­gram de­sign, and eval­u­a­tion for provincewi­de, cul­tur­ally ap­pro­pri­ate health ser­vices de­liv­ered by AHS to In­dige­nous Peo­ples. Wis­dom Coun­cil mem­bers serve terms of three years.

The Wis­dom Coun­cil was es­tab­lished in recog­ni­tion of the need to de­liver cul­tur­ally ap­pro­pri­ate health pro­grams and ser­vices for Al­berta’s In­dige­nous Peo­ples, and to fos­ter stronger re­la­tion­ships be­tween Al­berta’s In­dige­nous com­mu­ni­ties and AHS.

The Wis­dom Coun­cil is com­prised of 20 mem­bers ap­pointed from across the province who:

• Rep­re­sent the di­verse com­mu­ni­ties, back­grounds and ex­pe­ri­ences of Al­berta’s In­dige­nous com­mu­ni­ties.

• Are pas­sion­ate about health­care is­sues.

• Are in­ter­ested in sup­port­ing the strate­gic di­rec­tion and rec­on­cil­i­a­tion ef­forts of AHS by en­gag­ing mem­bers of their com­mu­ni­ties through­out Al­berta in a re­spect­ful, trans­par­ent and ac­count­able man­ner.
