FOOTBALL

The Maple Creek Redmen were in Nipawin for an SHSAA quarter final match up on Saturday, Oct. 27. The Redmen hung in with the strong Nipawin team for the first half (down 15-8 at half time). But, in the end, the Maple Creek team lost 38-15. Football has come to an end for all our SWAC teams.

PROVINCIAL SOCCER

Congratulations to our SWAC soccer teams on their seasons!! Qualifying for the provincial tournament is a challenge and a major accomplishment in your season. The Herbert Laurels were in Lake Lenore for the 1A Boys Provincial Championship. They lost a heartbreaking first round game to Osler VCA (3-2). The team rebounded with a win against Lanigan Friday afternoon (6-4) and then won the Consolation Final over Maymont (4-1) Saturday morning. The Herbert team placed 5th in the province.

The SCCH Ardens were at 3A girls SHSAA provincials in Prince Albert. They had the challenge of playing the #1 seed in the first round. Saskatoon St. Joseph proved to be too much for the Ardens and they dropped their first match. The Ardens won their second round match 4-1 over PA Carlton. On Saturday morning, they played Regina Campbell in the Consolation final. Injuries finally caught up with the Ardens and they lost 6-3.

The Colts were 3A boy’s provincials were in Saskatoon. The SCCHS team won their opening match by a nailbiting score of 3-2. They played Warmenin the semifinal. This time the Colts could not come through with the win. They lost by a score of 1-0. That meant the Colts would play for Bronze on Saturday. They were matched up against PA Carton. The hometown team defeated the Colts 4-2 for the Bronze medal. The SCCHS Colts finished 4th in the province.
