Tickets for the PBR Canada Touring Pro event in Medicine Hat on sale Dec. 7

Prairie Post (East Edition) - - Swift Current - CONTRIBUTED

After 15 years, Medicine Hat will welcome the toughest sport on dirt’s Canadian Touring Pro Division for one-night of edge-of-your-seat action on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Canalta Centre brought to the city by Blazing Brand Marketing & Productions.

“Having been involved in the PBR in the US by partnering in bulls with Karleen Bergdahl these past few years, I caught the bug of this exhilarating sport in a huge way,” says Lorelle Halderman, Event Organizer “It’s remarkable to have seen the excitement, fan base and popularity of the events grow phenomenally in North America and last year I said to Karleen – we definitely need the PBR in Medicine Hat, so I put the wheels in motion. After eight months of planning, it’s very exciting to announce the show. And it is a show – the pyrotechnics, the high quality production and the professionalism of the event staff will leave fans wanting more. We are so lucky to have wonderful community partners like Robertson Implements New Holland and to have a venue like the Canalta Centre as it is the perfect venue to showcase all the elements needed for a successful PBR event.”

“This is the perfect time to introduce a livestock event to Canalta Centre,” says Tammy Sweeney, General Manager, Canalta Centre. “We are especially excited that it will bring a whole new demographic of people into this wonderful building with the optimism of many more events of this caliber to come!”

The Touring Pro Division regularly features Canada’s elite, alongside some of the league’s top international athletes, squaring off against the rankest bucking bulls from the nation. Fans will witness exhilarating 8-second rides and wrecks throughout the action-packed event as the PBR’s courageous riders face off against their 2,000- pound opponents. The newly announced event comes on the heels of one of the most fiercely contended national title battles in league history at the close of the Canadian PBR Finals in Saskatoon last weekend. In front of a record crowd at the SaskTel Centre, Cody Coverchuk (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) won the 2018 PBR Canada Championship, putting a cap on the tightest title race in PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada history, a battle which exhilarated fans when it came down to the event’s final out.

“PBR has experienced huge growth in Canada over the past few years and we are excited to continue that trend by bringing an event to Medicine Hat for the first time in 15 years,” says Dave Cordovano, PBR SVP of International Business.

Other events will be a pre-event Pig Roast as well as an After Party with a live band. The event organizer has also chosen the Blair Stroh Cowboy for Kids Charity to receive some proceeds from the event from the 50/50, prior tshirt sales and the Pig Roast event.

The bull riding action begins at 7:30 p.m. June 22 at the Canalta Centre. All riders will attempt one bull each in Round 1. The Top 10 will then advance to the Championship Round for one more out and a chance at the event title. In addition to competing for points towards the Canadian national standings, riders will also have the chance to earn world points in an effort to earn a berth onto the elite 26th PBR Finals in Vegas.
