Swift Current man charged with child pornography-related offences
The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a man from Swift Current with three child pornography related offences. Tony Resendes, age 53, has been charged with the following:
• Possession of Child Pornography – Sec.163.1(4) Criminal Code (CC);
• Make Available Child Pornography – Sec. 163.1 (3) CC; • Accessing Child Pornography –
Sec. 163.1 (4.1) CC.
On August 13, 2018, the ICE Unit began investigating the activities of a person who was downloading and sharing child pornography files through a peer-to-peer network.
The investigation identified a Swift Current location where the offence was occurring. On October 17, the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at this location where several computers, electronic storage devices, and a cell phone were seized.
An analysis of these devices found evidence to support the charges.
Tony Resendes appeared in Saskatchewan Provincial Court in Swift Current on Nov. 21 where his matter was adjourned until December 12 at 9:30 a.m.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
