Swift Current RCMP: semi drivers receive tickets, warning about illegal parking
The following is a synopsis of Swift Current RCMP calls for service for the dates indicated:
4:23 PM - Report of a possible impaired driver leaving a business on Memorial Drive in a green Dodge Caravan. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and determined the driver was impaired by alcohol. An adult female will be charged with impaired driving.
6:33 PM - Report of a traffic hazard on the #1 Highway. The caller almost hit a semi parked that was hard to see due to the lights on the semi being dirty. The semi driver was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for parking in a no parking zone.
8:03 PM - Report of a neighbour in a dwelling unit on the O block of Hayes Drive playing loud music and yelling. Officers attended the location and could not hear any music. The police did speak to the home owner and was advised of the complaint that had been received in regards to their home.
10:18 PM -While on patrol officers issued a ticket to a semi driver for parking in a no parking zone on the #1 Highway.
10:29 PM -While on patrol officers issued a ticket to a semi driver for parking in a no parking zone on North Service Road W.
10:58 PM -While on patrol officers observed a grey Dodge Ram fail to stop at a stop sign. The adult male driver was charged under the Traffic Safety Act.
2:52 AM -911 call of a possible impaired driver on South Service Road E. in a black GMC Sierra. Officers made patrols but were unable to locate the vehicle. A second call was later received that the vehicle was parked at a commerical dwelling unit on North Service Road E. Officers attended but no one was around the vehicle.
7:07 AM - Report of people outside the caller’s home on the 200 block of 4th Avenue N.W. The caller stated he was legally blind so he could not see the people but had taken pictures with his phone and then advised he could see flashes coming from outside. Officers made patrols of the area but were unable to locate anyone near the area.
2:40 PM - Report of a lost jacket from last Sunday that also had a set of keys in it.
3:09 PM - Report of a traffic hazard on the 700 block of South Service Road E. There was a semi parked on the side of the road and the traffic going around it, the caller believed was going to cause an accident. Officers attended and spoke to the driver of the semi who was issued a verbal warning for parking in a no parking zone.
3:30 PM - Report of a white Chevrolet Impala that tried to get up a hill on 6th Avenue N.W. the night prior and had slid backwards and is now parked over the curb. The officers spoke with the driver who was notified to have the vehicle moved. A short time later officers made a patrol past the area and the vehicle was gone.
5:41 PM -Report of three youth walking down the street and are believed to be drinking alcohol. Officers attended the location and found the youth who were drinking cream sodas, not alcohol.
7: 15 PM -911 call of a suicidal individual. Officers and EMS attended the individual’s location and they were transported to hospital by EMS for evaluation.
10:36 PM -While on patrols officers issued a ticket to a semi driver for parking in the no parking zone on the #1 Highway.
10:49 PM -While conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle officers were passed by a white Volvo who failed to slow when passing emergency vehicles. The driver of the vehicle was charged under the Traffic Safety Act.
11 :04 PM -While on patrols officers issued an inspection ticket to the driver of a red Chevrolet Silverado to bring proof of tail lights being approved for use in Saskatchewan.
11: 14 PM -911 call of a collision on 13th Avenue S.E. where a Ford F150 hit a parked vehicle and then crashed into a residence. An adult male will be charged with impaired driving. This matter is still under investigation.
1: 13 AM -Report of the callers exhusband continuing to harass her and trespassing on her property. This matter is still under investigation.
2:50 AM -While on patrols officers arrested an adult male for being intoxicated in public, who was later released once sober. No criminal charges were laid in relation to the incident.
3: 10 AM -Report of two teenagers being in front of the callers residence. It was unknown what they were doing, the caller chased them away but wanted police made aware of what occured.
10:35 AM - Report of threats being uttered from an adult male in Quebec towards the caller. This matter is still under investigation.
4 PM -Report of three deceased deer on the ice near the 13th Avenue bridge. The City of Swift Current was notified for removal of the deer.
6:09 PM -Request to conduct a well being check on an adult female. The female was located alive & well at her residence.
