Swift Current Broncos fans showed their generosity by throwing hundreds of teddy bears, toques and mitts on the ice after Finnish import Joona Kiviniemi scored the team's first goal in the first period against the Brandon Wheat Kings to equalize the game during the Pattison Agriculture Teddy Bear Toss Night, Dec. 1. Both teams scored again during the second period to keep the game tied at 2- 2, but the Wheat Kings scored three unanswered goals during the third period to win 5-2. All the items from the teddy bear toss were donated to the Salvation Army's Christmas campaign in Swift Current. This year's event collected about 725 teddy bears and other soft toys, along with around 435 hats, mitts and gloves.
