Domestic issues, traffic violations kept SC RCMP busy over the weekend

The following is a synopsis of calls for service for Swift Current RCMP detachment the dates indicated:

2018-DECEMBER-07

5:32 p.m. - Report of harassment between the caller and her sibling who resides in a different city. The file was forwarded to the police agency for that jurisdicti­on for investigat­ion.

6:14 p.m. - 911 call of a small grey car with a Manitoba licence plate travelling westbound in the eastbound lane of the #1 Highway. Officers made patrols but were unable to locate any vehicles going the wrong way.

7:22 p.m. -While on patrols officers stopped a blue Volkswagen Golf for not having running lights on the vehicle. The male driver of the vehicle did not have a valid driver's licence and the vehicle was unregister­ed. The male was charged under the Traffic Safety Act and will also be charged under the Criminal Code.

9:45 p.m. - Report from a caller advising they are unable to get their business door to lock due to the weather and it being frozen. The caller was advised to contact a locksmith opposed to leaving the door to the business unlocked.

11 :57 p.m. - Report of a grey Chevrolet Cavalier blocking the caller's drive way on 500 block of 1st Avenue N.W. The owner of the vehicle was contacted by police and agreed to move their vehicle.

12:57 p.m. - Report of tenants arguing loudly in their suite on the 300 block of 2nd Avenue S. E. Police attended the dwelling unit and spoke to the tenants who were issued a ticket as this was the fourth time police have been called to their home for the excessive noise.

2:27 p.m. - Report of a neighbour dispute where one neighbour shovels snow onto the other’s sidewalk after it's been cleared. This matter was referred to the City of Swift Current Bylaw Officer.

4: 16 p.m. -While on patrol officers issued a ticket to the driver of a white Chevrolet Silverado for parking in the no parking zone on the #1 Highway.

4:24 p.m. -911 call of a possible impaired driver in a pink Chrysler Intrepid travelling on South Railway Street. The vehicle was driving erraticall­y and swerving between lanes. Officers made patrols but were unable to locate the vehicle. Officers attended the registered owner’s residence and spoke to her about the complaint. Officers were able to determine she was sober.

4:28 p.m. -While on patrols officers issued a ticket to the driver of a semi for parking in the no-parking zone on the #1 Highway.

5:01 p.m. - Report of a hit and run to the grey Ford F150 on the 300 block of MacDonald Drive. There are no suspects.

5:17 p.m. While on patrols officers issued a warning ticket to the driver of a black Ford F150 for disobeying a stop sign.

5:23 p.m. -While on patrols officers issued a ticket to the driver of a semi for parking in a no parking zone on the #1 Highway.

7: 14 p.m. - 911 call of a semi travelling on North Service Road W. with functional headlights but the lights on the trailer are not working. Officers made patrols and located a semi at a local gas station fixing the lights on their trailer and believed it to be the semi that they received the complaint about.

8:21 p.m. -While on patrols officers issued a warning ticket to the driver of a black Chrysler Aspen for not having proper head lamps on the vehicle.

9:02 p.m. - 911 call of a possible impaired driver with three other occupants in a grey Volkswagen Jetta travelling north on 11th Avenue N.E. The occupants of the vehicle had been attending a sporting event at a local school and smelt of alcohol. Officers made patrols and were able to locate the vehicle and stop it for a sobriety check and located open alcohol in the vehicle. The male youth driver of the vehicle was found to not be impaired by alcohol but did have a can of beer in his pocket. The driver was issued two tickets under Alcohol and Gaming Regulation­s Act for being in possession of alcohol and consumptio­n of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

10:57 p.m. -911 call of an unwanted male in a residence on the 500 block of 2nd Avenue N.E. The male was asked to leave, he left but is now outside banging on the door wanting back in. Officers attended and the male left prior to police arrival. Police made patrols of the area but did not locate anyone.

2:45 a.m. - Report of an intoxicate­d male on Central Avenue N. He was offered a ride by a local taxi driver but he won't get into the vehicle. The male was arrested and later released from police custody without criminal charges once he was sober.

5:04 a.m. - Report of an intoxicate­d male throwing things around in a suite in a dwelling unit on the 600 block of Robert Street E. and is scaring his girlfriend. Officers attended the unit but the male had left prior to officer arrival. This matter is still under investigat­ion.

6:38 a.m. - Report of a male sleeping on the caller's couch and she does not know who he is. Police attended the residence and located the male asleep on the caller's couch. She did not want any charges laid, she just wanted him removed from her home. Officers woke the male up who was heavily intoxicate­d and didn't know where he was. The male was arrested and later released from police custody without criminal charges once he was sober.

12:52 p.m. - Report of a damaged black Chevrolet Equinox near the fairground­s. The caller believed the vehicle possibly hit a pot hole causing it to hit a chain link fence. No one is around the vehicle. Police spoke to the registered owner of the vehicle who advised they would be returning to move the vehicle. The driver had missed a corner and lost control on the icy roadway and then hit the fence.

1 :01 p.m. - Report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersecti­on of Central Avenue N. and North Service Road E. A green Jeep Patriot struck a black Audi A8 when it turned into on coming traffic at a set of lights when it was unsafe to do so. The female youth driver of the Jeep was charged under the Traffic Safety Act.

1 :48 p.m. - Report of yelling and screaming coming from a suite in a dwelling unit on the 300 block of 2nd Avenue S.E. Police attended the dwelling unit and told the occupants of the home to keep it down.

2:39 p.m. -911 call of a female youth who assaulted her boyfriend and was now trying to harm herself. Officers attended the residence and spoke to all involved parties. The property owners did not want her in their home any longer. The female was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code.

8:02 p.m. - Report of the male caller being pushed by his ex-wife. The caller did not wish to pursue charges but wanted it reported to police in the event anything happens in the future.

9:07 p.m. - Report of what sounds like a male yelling at a female outside a residence on the 300 block of 3rd Avenue N. W. They are throwing things out of a white GMC truck. Police attended the location where the female was arrested for causing a disturbanc­e as she continued to yell after police arrived and was told to stop. Police determined no assault had occurred, the couple had gotten into a verbal argument about breaking up. The female was dropped off a separate location. No criminal charges were laid in relation to the incident.

10:18 p.m. -911 call of a dispute where the caller's ex-girlfriend is threatenin­g to remove their children from his home. Officers spoke to both individual­s and learned nothing criminal had taken place, there are concerns with custody of the child as the relationsh­ip has been dissolved. Mutual agreement made to have the child stay at a relatives home for the night and they will both seek legal advice as far as custody.

10:34 p.m. -911 hang-up call from a dwelling unit on the 500 block of Robert Street E. Upon call back an adult female advised she is struggling with disciplini­ng her twelve-year-old daughter. Officers attended her residence and spoke to the female about the proper use of 911 and provided her a card with the office phone number on it.
