Millar College of the Bible’s presentation of, To Follow a Star, was held December 8-9 in Pambrun.

More than one thousand people attended over the two days.

This original musical was written by Lorn Gieck, director of Fine Arts at Millar. Music was composed by Lorn & Janet Gieck. More than 100 college students, staff members and community children took part. The actors & choir were accompanied by a 25 piece orchestra.

The story drew the audience into the lives of an eastern family in the middle of dilemma. The King is dying and his daughter, Princess Aminah must decide who will become her husband and the next ruler.

While she has chosen for herself Jamal, a man who seeks kindness and mercy and who is well loved by all the people; her ruling Father does not approve of her choice. He believes the brother, Jarib, a cold-hearted and merciless man, is the one who will keep the kingdom safe.

These wise men from the east are sent on a quest to follow a star that tells of a royal birth of a new king.

Along the way Jarib seeks to shape Jamal into a hard and ruthless man, for he is convinced that it is only by ruling with an iron fist that one can keep the kingdom under control, but to no avail.

Upon meeting this new king, Jamal finds the answer he is searching for. The child Jesus is a king who will rule with mercy and justice.

A king who brings hope, peace and something no earthly king can offer, the forgiveness of sin. Jamal allows this king to rule in his heart.
