Lyric Theatre bringing in two exciting performances in the new year

- CONTRIBUTED

There are two Blenders shows in the new year that shouldn’t be missed.

The Blenders Music Series is pleased to present The Royal Foundry on Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Lyric Theatre.

Jared and Bethany had no intentions of starting the electric quartet that is now The Royal Foundry but after the release of “All We Have” received international exposure through the John Lennon Songwriting Competition and ABC’s Rookie Blue they knew they had discovered something special.

The Royal Foundry make the kind of up tempo folk pop that comes from harmonious alignment. It makes sense, then, that band members Bethany and Jared Salte are married. As the duo write music inspired by their marital life along with life lessons and challenges, they embark hand-in-hand, creating thought provoking lyrics, mesmerizing melodies, and a charming, unforgettable chemistry.

Tickets for the Saturday, Jan. 12 show are $30 and are available at Pharmasave or Eventbrite. Doors at the Lyric Theatre will open at 7:30pm and the music begins at 8:30 p.m.

Don't miss these fast rising northern stars, on Friday, Jan. 18 at the Lyric Theatre - The Jerry Cans.

The Jerry Cans create music inspired by their hometown of Iqaluit, Nunavut. With their mix of Inuktitut alt-country, throat singing, and reggae, The Jerry Cans are a distinctly northern, one-of-a-kind group. The band perform many of their songs in Inuktitut and are passionate about preserving the language as the north and their home community of Iqaluit evolve.

Tickets for the Friday, Jan. 18 show are $35 and are available at Pharmasave and Eventbrite. Doors at the Lyric Theatre will open at 7:30pm and the music begins at 8:30 p.m.
