Everything broken: promises, trust, government

- BY DALE FERREL

The never ending shambles we know as our Federal Liberal Government, lurches from one mis-deed to the next on a weekly basis. The media loves it, but never gets a straight answer, only meaningless repetitive canned nonsense. Canadians are growing terrified of the deficit, broken promises, political interference and the lack of problem solving.

1.THE ECONOMIC UPDATE: Finance Minister Morneau’s economic update was a great example of the blatant turmoil created by Trudeau’s “lost in the wilderness” government. More broken promises on the deficit and balancing the budget. More vote buying hand outs to hand picked corporations and media. NOTHING” for the oil patch; because western Canada doesn’t vote for Liberal disasters.

Days later, the fruitless update came to roost when GM announced the closure of their Ontario plant which only makes outdated gas propelled cars. The Liberals even called an emergency debate over the loss of 2,500 jobs in Ontario. I think the 110,000 workers, unemployed in the Alberta and Saskatchewan oil patch should demand the same compensation as Ontario Canadians. Previously, Ottawa dumped $11 billion into GM’s coffers and only got half of it back, including $1 billion the Liberals just secretly wrote off. The average cost per worker was $474,000. I’ll bet they are stupid enough to do it again?

2. THE AUDITOR GENERAL’s TRASHING: It seems everywhere the Auditor General checks, he finds incorrigible evidence that the Liberals are mired in a divisive dilemma. Their only salvation is that his department is severely understaffed and can’t do more investigations.

(2 (a): Our fighter jets are dangerously outdated. We don’t have near enough pilots to fly them or maintenance crews to repair them and cannot meet our commitments to NATO or NORAD. When they do get aloft, they can barely communicate with our allies and would be lucky to not be shot down due to their outdated technology for which there is no plan for upgrades. Nearly a third of pilots cannot even get the 140 hours minimum flying time per year. The Liberal plan to waste over $6 billion on Australian fighters that were bound for the scrap pile could only would make matters worse.

2.(b) Our staff of 7,800 located at 175 embassies and missions in 110 countries are poorly protected from attacks, violence and espionage. It is shameful that even the basics like assessments to identify the problems are terribly behind. Many of the few projects finally undergoing upgrades are three years behind while $103 million for them wasn’t even spent. Mandatory training for staff is sorely lacking. This is absolutely deplorable and “the holier than thou’ Liberals are the laughing stock of the entire world for being unable mitigate such basic important problems!

2. (c): It is lamentable that the Liberal government doesn’t even know what historic sites and buildings it owns! Three departments don’t even have full lists to refer to making even updates questionable.

3. THE CANADA POST CONTROVERSY: The same blame game plays out without fail for every Postal Union strike, which like it or not, are the workers constitutional rights. Management, full knowing that government will intercede and force them back to work, never settles. After a month or more of rotating strikes disrupting all of Canada, binding arbitration is forced on them. In reality, it should happen immediately, skipping the Liberal lies that they really care. The whole mess could be avoided if the Liberals stopped forcing all of government to use Canada Post, which would then fold within a year. The same for Air Canada where Liberals force all their employee to use it first class.

THE FRIGATE REHASH: The Liberal’s constant interference with bidding on major military purchases is another of their misdeeds. Fudging the criteria on bids to favour their friends has become standard. It is so bad that frustrated outside bidders have gone to court to challenge their shady, under the table, vote buying antics. Alion Canada has even opted for a trade challenge against Lockheed Martin. The Liberal’s cherry pick did not meet three critical requirements resulting in substantial changes and cost overruns on the $60 billion program. Further, the tender was amended 88 times and couldn’t even meet basic speed requirements!
