Admiral CWL donate to local Women’s Shelter

- CONTRIBUTED BY ADMIRAL CWL

The Admiral Catholic Women's League is a very small group of 11 women who feel the need in helping women and children seek refuge in shelters.

Family Violence Prevention Week was in November and the holiday season is now upon us. We saw the need to help out and we embraced with faith, knowing that it would make a positive difference this Christmas. At our November meeting, we decided to get busy and start preparing packages of personal needs such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, Kleenex, brushes, combs, shampoo, razors (disposable), etc. Among other items were blankets, towels, face cloths, pajamas, slippers, underwear, socks, books, and we didn't forget the children. We packaged clothing, teddy bears, games, colouring books, and crayons, as well as some toys which we planned to deliver to the shelter before Christmas.

No, we didn't just stop there. Cash is also very welcomed at Christmas time, so we went ahead and put on a Turkey Bingo and bake sale at the Admiral Community Hall. We raised $510.06 of which every penny of that will be donated to the shelter when we deliver our packages before Christmas. We felt that the need was there. Blessings and peace be with you all.
