Chi­nooks sports re­sults/sched­ule on the hard­court and on ice

SE­NIOR BAS­KET­BALL LEAGUE RE­SULTS Shau­navon Sil­hou­ettes were on the road to Maple Creek be­fore Christ­mas.

They won 45-26 over the home­town Maple Creek Re­belles. Top scorer from that game, for Shau­navon, was Char­lene Hof­farth (27 points) and top scorer for Maple Creek was Keya Davis with 8 points.

In our first week back, we had se­nior league­dou­ble head­ers in two gyms on Tues­day, Jan. 8.

The Shau­navon Sil­hou­ettes (Char­lene Hof­farth 22 points, Kam­ryn Brown 7 points) de­feated the Her­bert Lau­rels (Ire­lynd Haugh­ian 13 points, Shyler Chartier11 points) by a score of 46-42. Maple Creek Re­belles (Keya Davis 16 points, Mor­gan Bock 8 points) came out on the los­ing end of a 64-39 score against the Swift Cur­rent Jr. Ar­dens (Katie Hudec 16 points, Hailey Klimm 12 points).

In se­nior boys ac­tion Shau­navon (Austin Smith 27 points, Codee Smith 23 points) won against Gull Lake (Ian Mit­tle­holtz 18 points, An­thony La­marre and Bran­son Wood­ward 7 points each) by the score of 82-47. The Fron­tier Raiders (Brody Du­mon­tel 30 points, Frank Knelsen 27 points) im­proved their record with a win over the Maple Creek Rebels (Alex Fritzke 13 points, Michael Mudin­gayi12 points). The fi­nal score was 104-38.

Our Ju­nior SWAC Bas­ket­ball league also started up quickly in the New Year. In ju­nior girls ac­tion SCCHS Gr. 9 girls beat Wy­mark girls 61-30on a rare Tues­day night game. The Wy­mark girls then played Shau­navon later in the week and won 73-27 and the SC Gr. 9 girls de­feated Waldeck 61-41.

The ju­nior boys were also busy with a cou­ple games. The Maple Creek boys won over Shau­navon (54-46) and the Swift Cur­rent Gr. 9 Colts de­feated the Gull Lake Lions ju­nior team.

Bas­ket­ball league game times are set for 5:30 (and 7 p.m., if there is a dou­ble header at the host site). Schools may ad­just those start times or who plays first, so make sure to check at your school be­fore head­ing out to a game.

Se­nior league games on Tues­day, Jan. 15, Maple Creek will host the Her­bert Girls and Swift Cur­rent Ju­nior Colts. In girl’s league play, the Shau­navon Sil­hou­ettes will be on the road to Swift Cur­rent and Fron­tier Raiders will host the Gull Lake Lions in boy’s ac­tion.

Ju­nior games this week in­clude a Wed­nes­day, Jan. 16 match up with Maple Creek Red­men trav­el­ing to play the SC Grade 9 Colts. On Thurs­day, Jan. 17, Swift Cur­rent Grade 9’s will host both Shau­navon teams, Waldeck girls will be in Wy­mark and Maple Creek boys will host Gull Lake.


I am in the fi­nal stages of mak­ing the draws for our SWAC Cham­pi­onships. Com­pleted draws will be sent to teams and posted on SWAC Sports Face­book /twit­ter/In­sta­gram.

Se­nior Sec­tional Play­offs will be held on Feb. 1-2. Cy­press Hills will be com­pet­ing in Fox Val­ley and Rolling Hills will be in Pon­teix. White­mud’s play­off date in Shau­navon is TBD.

Ju­nior Sec­tional Play­offs will be held on Fe­bru­ary 8-9. Cy­press Hills plays off in Leader, Rolling Hills in Her­bert and White­mud in Fron­tier.
